Abstract

The Cu-bearing zones in the USSR occur in orogenic and platform areas, characterized in arid environment sediments by variegated and red deposits, and in geosynclines by black shale formations. Deposition took place in early and late Proterozoic, late Palaeozoic and middle Mesozoic. Cyclic recurrence and facies features of the sediments, as well as the structure of productive strata in deposits, assist in evaluating areas of potential.-R.E.S.
