Abstract

The Environmental Impact Assessment is a preventive tool that allows harmonizing the economic, social and environmental development promoted by the execution of projects. The objective of this research was to evaluate the significance of the environmental impacts generated by the exploitation of rocks in the San Luis de Alba quarry (Puno, Peru), using the Integrated Relevant Criteria (CRI) methodology. According to the results obtained, the terrestrial fauna and flora components obtained total impact indices equal to-36.16 and-27.94, respectively, the physical components soils and topography registered negative impacts, in the same order, with indices of-23.29 and-23.26; while, in the case of the socioeconomic components, the employment generation component registered a positive index equal to 25.18. It is concluded that the exploitation of the San Luis de Alba rock quarry generates significant negative impacts that must be minimized or mitigated.
