Abstract

Throughout this book there have been frequent references to socio-technical design. Stress has been placed on the advantages of this approach for the systems designer or change agent who wishes to give as much attention to the needs of people as to the demands of technology. In this chapter we will show how socio-technical design has evolved and discuss where it is today.
