This article aims to analyze the current state of sports management from an analysis of the context worldwide and the contributions of the magazine Retos to this field. The methodology is based on an adaptation of the PRISMA 2020 guide, to guarantee the reliability of the systematic study carried out. The analysis was carried out using the Scopus metasearch engine, where the exploration of the available literature was carried out from 2012 to 2022, obtaining a group of 376 documents totally relevant to the study area, 67 of them corresponding to Challenges, for 18%. of representativeness. The variables used were downloaded from the metasearch engine in csv format, this in order to be compatible with the Bibliometrix package of the R statistical program, which was used to process them. The results found show that academic articles were the type of research work most carried out (254), the production throughout the study time had a slight growth, being the year 2021 the most productive (53) with a growth rate of 2022, compared to 2018 of 87%. The journal that has the greatest impact on the subject is Sport Management Review and the researchers with the highest H index are Cunningham G. and Shaw S., with an indicator of 5 each. The articles published in Challenges provide an up-to-date and rigorous view of recent developments and best practices in these fields.
