Abstract

Some multiresolution models offer variable resolution capabilities. This property allows us to display areas with different levels of detail on the same mesh. In this paper we present a continuous multiresolution model that allows variable resolution. An important characteristic of the model is the use of triangle strips both in the data structure and in the rendering stage. The proposed model extends a previous strip-based multiresolution scheme that implements uniform resolution. We present new data structures, algorithms and some experiments that demonstrate the model efficiency. © Springer-Verlag 2004.
