Abstract

Objective. The Access to Information Act (LAI) n. 12 527 of 18 November 2011 regulates access to public information in all areas of the Brazilian Government. Aims to discuss aspects of LAI and its relation to document management, and the need of acting Archivist professional in public and private archives. Method. The methodology is characterized by bibliographic and documentary research. Results. It is based on a literature review with approach to LAI, archival document management and lifecycles of documents. Conclusions. It concludes that the absence of archival document management in different phases, hinders the implementation of LAI, as well as the absence of professional archivist to organize the mass of documents and make it available to users.
