Abstract

Children who have undergone major surgical procedures frequently require admission to an intensive care unit or observation area for monitoring of vital signs, respiratory support, and for the management and replacement of fl uid and electrolytes. This chapter will focus on the important aspects of postoperative ventilation and fl uid management. © 2009 Springer Berlin Heidelberg.
