Abstract

Laboratory growth rates in adolescent Antarctic krill Euphausia superba were similar to calculated hypothetical values. Reduction in body length during winter is not common to euphausiids; it was not found to occur in Meganyctiphanes norvegica which continues to moult in winter. Euphausiid growth can be monitored by moult-staging. Simultaneous moulting is a feature of E. superba in swarms.-from Author
