Abstract

Structural fat grafting to the dorsum of the hand is a method of regenerative medicine. Although collaborative knowledge has increased, many of the biological mechanisms are still uncertain. Refinements of instruments and techniques have been developed to improve outcomes and achieve acceptable results. The more recent concept of enriching fat grafts with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and/or regenerative cellular isolates has provided a potential new opportunity to further improve results significantly. The author discusses the aesthetics of the aging hand, treatment of aging hands, techniques of stem cell isolation, the technique of fat transfer, and the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
