Abstract

Pediatric cancer impacts all developmental aspects of a person’s life, including career and vocational development. Historically, work related issues such as difficulties obtaining employment, workplace problems, discrimination, and unfair termination have been reported by pediatric cancer survivors [1]. In this chapter, we review the pediatric cancer survivorship literature in terms of employment related issues, and present a model for conceptualizing and providing career development and career counseling interventions that focus on prevention of unnecessary challenges. Finally, suggested interventions will be illustrated by case study examples.
