The newly established European Higher Education Area (EHEA) has prompted a reformulation of teaching methodologies, placing greater focus on student-centred learning. Integration of theory and practice together with development of academic skills have become important educational objectives. The purpose of this research is to determine student perceptions of the application of active teaching methodologies, including collaborative learning and case studies for the development of generic skills. The research was conducted following protocol for designing learning activity as defined by the Institute for Science Education (ICE) at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
