Abstract

many more factors than physiological needs determine eating behaviour, and several disciplines have offered different explanations to enlighten the manifold aspects of eating behaviour and food habits / a review of these is given, which reveals that an integrated model, supported by empirical findings, is still missing / the importance of an individual's personality traits has been given little attention so far the attempt is made to move towards such an integrated model by considering those personality traits that may be particularly relevant in shaping the cognitive, emotional, and conative components of an individual's eating behaviour / the traits considered here are self-consciousness, body consciousness, and locus of control social science contributions to the understanding of eating behaviour / economics / sociology / anthropology / psychology / a model for the regulation of eating (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
