Abstract

Modernization is one of the important things and a condition of progress in human life today, not least in the world of education, especially Islamic education. Modernization is necessary for education to meet the demands of the times and be able to print quality learners and ready to face the challenges of life. One example of the modernization of education that is capable of bringing great changes in the life of the ummah is the modernization that has been done one of the national leaders of Indonesia as well as the founder of Muhammadiyah, namely KH. Ahmad Dahlan who inspired renewal until now. Muhammadiyah is often referred to as a socio-religious renewal movement. This is well-founded, although Muhammadiyah itself does not formulate itself as a movement. The main reason for this mention is that Muhammadiyah has played a significant role in the transformation of religious social life in Indonesia since its inception.
