Musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) is today considered to be one of the most efficient imaging modalities in the assessment of most sport injuries [1, 2]. MSUS is economic, dynamic, noninvasive and patient-friendly. Color Doppler allows accurate assessment of inflammation. A variety of procedures, including hematoma or seroma aspiration and local therapeutic injections, are easily performed under real-time MSUS guidance, thus reducing the risk of injuries to adjacent structures and allowing a more precise and less painful injection. The aims of this chapter are to discuss the role of MSUS in the assessment of sport injuries and to present the sonographic appearances of the main disorders affecting the upper and lower limbs.
