Abstract

An Internet Protocol/Generic Stream Encapsulation (IP/GSE) signaling framework is proposed to replace the current MPEG-2 Transport Stream (TS) Table-based signal-ling system and to enable smoother convergence of Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) transmission systems and IP networks. GSE suitability is explained and a review of IP-based signalling techniques is presented in order to select the optimal candidate methods for this architecture. © 2010 Institute for Computer Sciences, Social-Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.
