Current electronic diagnostic tools allow technicians to take a snapshot of the test data during the occurrence of an engine electronics problem. The snapshot can be triggered off a fault code or set manually with a key process. Technicians can also change the trigger point from the beginning of the occurrence to the middle or the end, depending on the data needed. This saves many fleets labor and parts costs as well as reduce downtime. Enhanced on-board diagnostics, en route maintenance and repair advice, and even systems that automatically report developing problems help provide even greater efficiencies for the fleets whose technicians can keep up. Now they can watch and test all sorts of systems and switches.
