Abstract

The objective of this study was to define a working method for biomedical engineers/ medical engineers to determine realistic maintenance intervals for medical equipment in hospitals. Maintenance period was analyzed for 145 medical equipment, including monitoring and treatment devices. Some indicators were established on the conditions of use of equipment and taking into account the manufacture year of the equipment; the data were analyzed using logistic regression predictors. The average time between failures was determined and was reported to some categories of relevant indicators.
