PELATIHAN PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC) UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KOMPETENSI SISWA SMKN 1 BENDO MAGETAN

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe development of automation technology in various production processes in the industrial world is experiencing rapid progress, of course this will have consequences, that the workforce in the field of industrial automation must meet adequate qualifications so that production runs optimally. The partners in this activity are SMKN 1 Bendo Magetan, East Java. The problem of the partners is that the competence of students about Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is less than optimal. This is due to the absence of PLC practicum modules and the lack of PLC practicum activities. To overcome this, in the community service program, the proposing team wanted to provide a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) training package for Magetan Vocational School students. Outcomes of these activities include the PLC practicum module and scientific publications in national journals. The method of this activity is training of trainers using direct learning models so as to facilitate students in understanding the material and applying the concept of the material to learning aids to achieve predetermined competencies. Based on the results obtained, the conclusion of this activity is that the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) training has been carried out well and smoothly. This can be seen from the high enthusiasm of all participants in participating in the training with the results of the questionnaire that as many as 100% of the participants stated that the existence of PLC training was very beneficial for students of SMKN 1 Bendo Magetan because it was in line with the needs of the industry-oriented workplace today 4.0 with the support of automation technology industry.Keywords: training, competence, electric power engineering, programmable logic controllerABSTRAKPerkembangan teknologi otomasi pada berbagai proses produksi di dunia industri mengalami kemajuan yang cepat, tentunya hal ini akan memberikan konsekuensi, bahwa tenaga kerja di bidang teknik otomasi industri harus memenuhi kualifikasi yang memadai agar produksi berjalan optimal. Pihak mitra dalam kegiatan ini yaitu SMKN 1 Bendo Magetan Jawa Timur. Permasalahan pihak mitra yaitu kompetensi siswa tentang Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) merupakan kurang maksimal. Hal ini dikarenakan belum adanya modul praktikum PLC dan masih minimnya aktivitas praktikum PLC. Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, maka pada kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini tim pengusul ingin memberikan paket pelatihan Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) bagi siswa SMK Magetan. Luaran kegiatan ini diantaranya yaitu modul praktikum PLC dan publikasi ilmiah dalam jurnal nasional. Metode kegiatan ini yaitu training of trainer dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung sehingga dapat memudahkan peserta didik dalam memahami materi dan menerapkan konsep materi pada alat bantu pembelajaran untuk mencapai kompetensi yang telah ditetapkan. Berdasarkan hasil yang diperoleh, maka kesimpulan kegiatan ini yaitu pelatihan Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) ini telah terlaksana dengan baik dan lancar. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari tingginya antusiasme dari semua peserta dalam mengikuti pelatihan dengan hasil angket bahwa sebanyak 100% peserta menyatakan dengan adanya pelatihan PLC sangat bermanfaat bagi siswa SMKN 1 Bendo Magetan karena sesuai dengan kebutuhan dunia kerja saat ini yang berorientasi industri 4.0 dengan dukungan teknologi otomatisasi industri.Kata kunci: pelatihan, kompetensi, teknik tenaga listrik, programmable logic controller
