Abstract

Before the release of any application, a source code security audit must be performed. This practice guarantees the detection of any type of programming error leading to security vulnerability or a fallible behavior of the application. For the purpose of this research a static code analysis was conducted for each part of a crime reporting application. The results highlight the different flaws found, classifying the by order of priority in order to provide recommendations that help the developers on solving the issues. This security audit deals with a mobile application that provides citizens with a secure but quick and easy way to report illegal or suspicious events around them by sending a message and multimedia data to the authorities.
