Abstract

The Navstar Global Positioning System offers the potential for revolutionizing both warfare and civil navigation and position location. In the final Department of Defense deployment, over 30,000 users will be equipped with Navstar receivers. The GPS when fielded stands to provide a significant increase in capability at a lowered operating cost than required for present systems.
