Abstract

It reflects on how the illegal cocaine market affects the lives of residents in a transboundaryterritory between Brazil, Peruand Colombia. It observes how the negotiationsaround the cocaine commercializationhave structured a peculiar moraleconomy in a border region full of socialcontrol devices that affect the economicpractices of Brazilian, Peruvian and Colombiancitizens. The research was developedthrough ethnographic incursionsover four years in an investigation processthat privileged the interpretation ofresidents of the region on the problem ofproduction, commercialization and passageof cocaine by the triple border. Theresults are presented through an analyticaltreatment that aimed at understandingthe social problems experienced byresidents who, in their daily lives, participatein, or hear about, the actionsof people involved in cocaine production,commercialization and circulationschemes through the border
