Abstract

This paper presents a gray scale image compression method using the Wavelet Transform and key feature detection for mobile phone video transmission. The major contribution of this work is to show the application of the wavelet transform in image compression and to add a new method to reduce redundant information in video transmission which is key feature detection. An algorithm is designed in Matlab to accomplish this task using a face to face video. © 2009 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
