Interaction of Light with Matter

Abstract

In the next two sections we present some basic interaction processes of light with matter from two different points of view. First we consider matter as a homogeneous medium described by the complex dielectric function $ε$($ω$) or by the complex index of refraction $$\tilde{n}(\omega )$$.
