Abstract

This paper deals with a multi-criteria decision analysis used to identify technologies, which are worth to investigate in the context of Health Regional Trust. In particular, a duodenal-jejunal bypass sleeve, i.e., the EndoBarrier® (GI Dynamics, Australia), is studied and the management of the introduction and its proper use are methodically analyzed. The introduction of this device requires a preliminary study, which involves experts from Clinical Engineering Department of San Matteo Hospital (Pavia, Italy) for seeking information or opinions on this emerging technology clinicians in the field of interest. A suitable survey has been realized to understand the impact of the new technology for the patients. The proposed procedure can have general validity, and it can represent an effective method, which takes into account all the possible aspect, from the priority of the technical properties to the adequateness of the considered health technology.
