Abstract

India’s overwhelming energy challenges are likely to increase in upcoming years. Looking at the great potential for renewable energy and energy storage, India will meet its unprecedented energy demands. Thus the goal of this work is to design and develop a solar-powered electric stove, the conventional energy shortage in India is motivating for development of solar electric stoves. The developed system consists of a heating bed which gets power from solar panels providing power of 300 W. There is a 12 V lead acid battery which supplies power in the absence of sunlight. While the stove is not in use batteries are charged in day light, a controller is designed and mounted onto the setup which allows to regulate heat. The stove was used in real time, various food was cooked and the data such as cooking time and power was recorded and analyzed. The results obtained were satisfactory in terms of cooking time and energy consumed. Which concludes the effectiveness of the solar stove in rural areas and remote locations.
