Since the introduction of selective β2-receptor agonists and sodium cromoglycate (SCG), Swedish paediatricians have extensively increased their use of inhalation therapy in children with asthma. These two kinds of inhaled drugs are the predominant ones, but racemic epinephrine is also used by special license from the Swedish Medical Authorities. The aim of this report is to show the routines the authors have adopted for inhalation therapy in children. With the exception of racemic epinephrine, similar routines are used in other parts of Sweden. Inhalation therapy in children with cystic fibrosis, or inhalation of steroids will not be discussed.
