Abstract

One of the main concerns with our environment has been solid waste management which stays uncollected from the bins sometimes without having the notice which can result in the overflowing of the trash cans, polluting the vicinity of the trash cans. This creates adverse effects on society concerning health as it is a major factor that thrives the bacteria, insects, and vermin. This increases the risk of the people getting in contact with salmonella that causes typhoid fever, food poisoning, enteric fever, gastroenteritis, and other major illnesses. India is one of the largely populated country and is growing with great ideas, implementing smart ideas and technology, creating a smart lifestyle and building up smart cities. Therefore we too must put waste management smartly into consideration. To deal with and combat against this scenario, a new approach towards smart trash cans has been proposed. This smart trash can is the solution to the problems that we can overcome in our day to day lives. Whenever the trash can gets filled after a certain limit, this acknowledges the client with the help of placing sensors and arduino board in the trash can that transmits this information to the desired person in charge indicating the location, time and clearance required by the authority with the help of an android application. This requires the authority to login in order to receive this information. And when the process of clearing the trash can is complete, then authority marks the job complete and the bin is now ready to receive trash from the people. And this process continues again.
