Abstract

Europe had the major share, 64 per cent (250m), of world international tourism arrivals in 1988 and tourism receipts were estimated at US $195 bn up 22.9 per cent. Europe increased its share slightly (24 per cent) at US $118 bn. OECD reported that their member countries, where again Europe is the major tourism partner, increased receipts for the fifth successive year by 4 per cent in the first half of 1989.
