Abstract

Teachers’ digital competence (TDC) is currently one of the most highly valued competences for teachers. To develop this competence, however, teachers and schools need to adopt digital technological resources. This will make it possible for them to help students to acquire the basic skills that are considered necessary if they are to effectively participate in contemporary society. The main objective of this article is to acquire deeper knowledge of the role of TDC in the process of adopting digital technological resources in educational schools. The findings from this article come from the research carried out in the context of the doctoral theses: “The adoption of digital technological resources in Education: facilitating factors and limiting factors”. The methodology used follows a qualitative-quantitative-quality process, featuring two focus groups of experts in technology and education and a Likert questionnaire answered by a sample of 455 teachers in Catalonia. One of the conclusions of the research has been to place DTC among the facilitating factors of technology adoption, as it seems to be one of the key elements that allow schools to adopt these resources.
