In the face of increasing product commoditization and intense international competition, companies in high-wage countries must produce high quality products designed to match customer demands perfectly. To improve the customer-product-fit research in the area of Interactive Value Creation has focused on integrating customers into the product development process. After providing an overview of the previous research in the areas of interactive value creation and User Toolkits, this paper this paper presents the design of an Embedded User Toolkit and a preliminary field study conducted using a prototypical toolkit implementation.
