Abstract

Only during the last decade has there been a flourishing of alternative treatment options to major surgery for the management of symptomatic uterine leiomyoma. In addition to currently available minimally invasive surgical interventions, such as endometrial ablation techniques, radiologic interventions with uterine artery embolization and focused ultrasound surgery are welcome treatment options, despite the lack of long-term efficacy data. ©2006 by American Society for Reproductive Medicine.
