Abstract

The history, distribution, taxonomy, habitat and cultivation requirements of Cryptomeria japonica (Thunb. ex L.f.) D. Don (Cupressa-ceae), which is considered endemic to Japan, are discussed; a full description with illustrations of the species is provided.
