Abstract

This case report illustrates heart disease after radiation of the chest for metastatic carcinoma of the breast. The clinical and hemodynamic features of cardiac compression were present and were unresponsive to pericardiectomy. Pathologic examination revealed myocardial fibrosis analogous to those lesions produced experimentally in rat myocardium by x‐irradiation. Copyright © 1968 American Cancer Society
