Abstract
The paper describes the current situation in the area of European road safety and draws attention to the adverse developments in several Central European countries. It presents the approach of European SOL project in relation to the actual Slovakian national road safety plan for the period 2011 - 2020. It underlines the added value of networking and contains recommendations for building multi-stakeholder partnerships for road safety at the national and community level. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
