Abstract

Different weight percentages of ZrO 2 (0, 3, 5, 7 and 10 wt%) incorporated electrospun PVDF-HFP nanocomposite polymer membranes (esCPMs) were prepared by electrospinning technique. They were activated by soaking in 1 M LiPF 6 containing 1:1 volume ratio of EC: DMC (ethylene carbonate:dimethyl carbonate) to get electrospun nanocomposite polymer membrane electrolytes (esCPMEs). The influence of ZrO 2 on the physical, mechanical and electrochemical properties of esCPM was studied in detail. Finally, coin type Li-ion capacitor cell was assembled using LiCo 0.2 Mn 1.8 O 4 as the cathode, Activated carbon as the anode and the esCPME containing 7 wt% of ZrO 2 as the separator, which delivered a discharge capacitance of 182.5 Fg â '1 at the current density of 1Ag â '1 and retained 92% of its initial discharge capacitance even after 2,000 cycles. It revealed that the electrospun PVdF-HFP/ZrO 2 based nanocomposite membrane electrolyte could be used as a good candidate for high performance Li-ion capacitors.
