The purpose of this paper is to underscore some common difficulties such as comprehension, word order, reporting verbs and pronunciation, that A2-B2 learners face in learning English reported speech. Looking through some specific analysis of reported speech, particularly its meaning, form and usage, the paper will consider some issues for teaching that will lead to selection of activities in which students will need both to use and understand reported speech, and will also suggest teaching activities that can help to improve students’ communication skills. Selected activities focus not only on practicing form and use of reported speech, but on development of learners’ independence and their ability to work in pairs or groups. Moreover, with the help of learning on how to use reported speech in English, A2-B2 learners will expand their knowledge and understanding of how the language works. They will benefit from learning something new and from gaining a new perspective on the understanding of reported speech.
