Abstract

A study was conducted to assess the level of awareness that users have with regard to the privacy account settings within Facebook, a popular social networking site. A questionnaire was developed and disseminated. The questionnaire findings are discussed and recommendations for improvement to the interface in terms of creating more awareness of privacy settings were identified. The conclusion section discusses improvements to enhance users' awareness of their privacy settings. Future research was identified in pursuit of increasing intuitive interfaces related to privacy settings. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
