Abstract

This paper describes feasible methods which can improve the accuracy of SpO2 values for low perfusion indices of 1 % or lower. The methods suggested were reviewed and analyzed through. Time-domain methods including digital filters and common-mode noise reduction based on a differential amplifier were considered. It shows that the suggested system could distinguish SpO2 signals up to 1 % when PI is 1 %. When PI is 0.1 %, it still could classify signal, however, the standard deviation was too wide to be accepted in clinical practice. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
