Abstract

Some city services across the world have been able to make use of technology for a more seamless delivery and massive use. As cities grow in population and complexity, new problems and challenges emerge. In particular, the growth of the city of Aguascalientes has seen an increasing demand for more and better city services over time, complicating the way in which public transportation services are provided, not only in the city but in the metropolitan area as surrounding municipalities become practically part of it. Public transportation does not have accurate and updated information that allows for technology to help in the efficient delivery of the service, causing a number of problems such as the inability to pinpointing the location of busses at any given time, resulting in challenges to providing a better service for users. This paper is a first attempt at solving the problem through the means of the GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) format defined in [1]. We believe that our paper can help the development of software solutions by means of e.g., smartphone apps that can help the city offer better public transportation using a Smart City paradigm [2].
