Abstract

Possible applications of nonlinear fibers to all-optical signal processing are described. Ultra-broad band/ultra-fast optical signal processing using four-wave mixing, cross-phase modulation and supercontinuum light generation in nonlinear fibers will be essential technologies for future photonic networks.
