Abstract

A series of prostaglandins has been incubated with the β‐oxidizing enzyme system of rat liver. All of the compounds tested were oxidized. Prostaglandin E1, prostaglandin B1, prostaglandin F1α and prostaglandin F1β were converted into the corresponding C18 homologues. Prostaglandin A1, 11α,15‐dihydroxy‐9‐ketoprostanoic acid and 11α‐hydroxy‐9,15‐diketoprostanoic acid yielded mixtures of the C16 and C18 homologues. Nor‐prostaglandin F1α and homo‐prostaglandin F1α were both converted into trinor‐prostaglandin F1α. Copyright © 1968, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
