In the context of globalpolitics, critical thinking about language practices in schools has becomeof paramount importance. This text highlights how research in schoolsneeds to be thought from epistemological paradigms that address thedemands of contemporaneity. Based on research results from investigationsin language classrooms, examples of language practices that evidencetranslanguaging and creative linguistic performance are presented. Theselinguistic manifestations, often considered marginal from the perspectiveof rationalist canons, can be considered legitimate when addressed byepistemological paradigms that give sense to those practices.
