Abstract

With the analysis on education management in the existing system, we conclude that the resource silo and the lack of resource standards are the major problems faced with the development of e-education. Therefore an education-oriented people to people association network, a short term as "E-PAN", is proposed to enhance education resource management and provide more personalized educational services. On the other hand, the E-PAN shows the main features of user agent and user modeling, which enable the pairing of resource providers and resource receivers to establish the learning activities. The E-PAN layered architecture and basic elements are described in detail, and several application scenarios are presented in the following. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
