Total diet studies (TDSs) are powerful tools for collecting data on the concentration of chemicals in food, estimating dietary exposure and undertaking risk assessments for these chemicals for population groups of interest. As with all scientific studies, uncertainty and variability that are encountered when conducting TDSs need to be considered when reporting and interpreting the findings.
