Abstract

This chapter provides a guide to the use and interpretation of the Basic Personality Inventory (BPI; Jackson, 1976). In doing so, greater emphasis is placed on describing the applied aspects of the test with less of a focus on the instrument's intricate psychometric development. Those with an interest in a more extensive discussion of the multivariate statistical details are referred to the Basic Personality Inventory Manual (Jackson, Helmes, Hoffman, Holden, Jaffe, Reddon, & Smiley, 1989).
