Abstract

The article presents an overview on the need for a careful training and supervision of lifeguards. It states that an optimum level for more than 30 minutes of lifeguard vigilance was observed and lifeguarding vigilance task is never 100%. It suggests that lifeguard leadership is needed to deal with issues of prevention, rescue, and treatment. It also offers factors that determine and constitute effective leadership in lifeguarding.
