This chapter examines four of the most common drugs used in the prevention of postoperative atrial fibrillation in cardiac surgery. The pros and cons of each are weighed, and their effectiveness evaluated based on the best available studies. Finally, the authors' personal view of the data and how we incorporate it into our practice is reviewed.
