Abstract

In this chapter we define what we mean by a season and show some methods for investigating and modelling a seasonal pattern.\rThree excellent, but more technical, books on seasonality are by Mardia, Fisher, and Ghysels and Osborn. We also recommend Chap. 8 of West and Harrison. An excellent book on the history and construction of the Christian calendar is Duncan.
