Abstract

Part of a special issue on empowering educators to achieve excellence. Urban educators are practicing oppressive discipline over students least served by the education system. Instead of this practice of continued domination and control by adults, educators can implement constructive discipline by achieving the trust of their students through engaging them in a professional learning community.
