Abstract

In this paper we present the case study of a high performance athlete in Taekwondo. We studied five lower limb gestures or kicks known as Yopcha Jirugi, Dolio Shagui, Goquen Chagui, Twimyo Dolyo Chagi y Dwicha Milgui/ Diwicha Jirugui using a digital capture technique. This allowed us to calculate kinematic data of movement performed which describe accurately the technique of the movement performed by the athlete. Motion capture was made using the software Biomech® by placing markers on the body of the athlete. The designs of the biomechanical models were made using Tracklab® and data processing was performed with the use of SmartAnalyzer®. Finally, we produced a realistic simulation of the anatomy and movements in 3D. We used this protocol to quantitatively assess movement within the standardized range-of-motion values, highlight possible issues that may affect performance, and potentially health.
